If you own a car (I did for many years, but currently do not), my father taught me that it's important to have certain things checked/replaced at 60,000 miles, and this is quite common knowledge among car mechanics. A few years ago, at the request of a friend, I created a list of things that should be checked/maintained on a vehicle. Recently I found a Web site that had most everything I kept on my own list, and then some. This online site, TrustMyMechanic.com also gives you some guidelines for things to maintain under 60,000 miles. Keep it handy. As my very good friend and car mechanic-slash-home-repair Mr. Fix-It guru likes to quip, "One day, you're gonna need me."
